Mood: waiting for wind
1st May 2006
Windsurfing: Hove
Wind Direction: cross-on r-l (SW?)
Wind Stength: F6 easing with tide rising
Surf / Sea State: nice waves
Air Temperature: ok
Sea Temperature: ok
Weather: wet'n'windy becoming sunnier as wind eased
Max Speed:
Distance Covered:

Hove .... err ... got an earlyish morning session in before tide got too high and the racing kicked off (unscheduled delay due to ejector seat fault on one of the RIB's ... all okay thanks to loads of UKWA racers / parents etc rushing to aid recovery of the inverted unmanned RIB in the pissing down rain & white water ... the boat crew look after our safety so was a small price to pay to help them out )

Pretty mad day all round, pissing down and 25-30 knots on the water, return from rescue mission and rain is easing and it's still blowing 20-25 knots easy .... took a 3S 97 & 5.7m Expression out and had fun for an hour or so before the race briefing (rip was pretty noticeable and as wind eased a little it became a bit of a downwind session for people ... even the freewave guys were struggling to stay in the competition area at times) ... by the time my heat was up, the tide was up too and being tied to the event venue, I opted for contemplating Hove high tide shorebreak, but preferring to study the various techniques than risk further damage to the credit card. Wind dropped to 7m weather and big shorebreak / light wind combo isn't one of my faves As a result, I did crap in the racing & I can't say I blame Duncan for opting for Portland, the big girl or RichC for heading to Camber - considered heading over there myself as the tide came up but thought it'd be poor form to leave early, and I was optimistically thinking i may actually get out at some stage

As tide started to drop a bit, and the racing was done and dusted, I had a couple of failed attempts to get out and canned the idea before the credit card needed some serious abuse .... had better days if totally honest, and can see why the PWA pro's opted out of Brighton events all those years back

Shame BB had to work .... lets hope he gets a job doing weekend work ... BB won't be Billy-No-Mates if that's the effect he has on the weather when he works eh
